Maria Wivstad

Maria Wivstad grew up in Stockholm in Sweden and was early engaged in the environmental movements during the 1970s. She studied agricultural crop and soil sciences at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and made her PhD 1997 in nutrient management in organic farming systems.
Until 2010 she worked with cropping systems research and extension at SLU, mostly within organic farming systems and with a speciality about green manuring systems on arable farms. Since 2010 she has been the director of the Swedish Centre for Organic Food and Farming - EPOK, at SLU. The centre mainly works with organic research dissemination and coordination of organic research activities in Sweden. The centre is also strongly involved in international cooperation within the field of research and research communication.
